Avengers Assemble! Superheroes can do amazing things, but they also have weaknesses and things they can't do. Some can fly, some have super strength. But some can't. In this activity, students read about their favourite Marvel superheroes and find out what they can and can't do. Includes: 1 guide worksheet (Thor), can - can't checklist worksheet, 5 superhero reading worksheets (Iron Man, Hulk, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Captain America). How to use 1: 1. Start by giving students the Thor worksheet. Read together and draw O (can) and X (can't) for the things Thor can and can't do. Students might be overwhelmed by lots of English words. But teach them they are just looking for the key words CAN and CAN'T then the activity word in BOLD writing. 2. Once students know how to do the activity, give them the checklist worksheet. Give different groups or students different superhero worksheets. Give them time to read and find the answers, writing O and X. 3. Rotate the groups and worksheets, so that students can try reading all of them. 4. Check the answers together as a class. See which groups got the most correct answers. How to play 2: 1. The activity is the same as above. However, this time put the superhero worksheets around the classroo, gym or playground. 2. Students are in groups with one checklist worksheet per group. 3. Only ONE student from each group can be running around. They cannot take the checklist or pencil. They must run to a superhero worksheet, read and remember what they can and can't do. Return to the group and tell them. It's ok if they can't remember all of the information. When they return to the group, a new member can now go and look for a poster. To make it easy to keep track of who is allowed to be moving around, give students a bib, sash or use red/white caps. 4. When the time is finished, check which groups had the most correct answers.
